Karate C'ships in November

The 17th All Asia Open Karate Championships will be held from November 9 at the Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur with approximately 60 karatekas from 18 countries taking part in the two-day meet.

President Abdul Hamid is expected to declare the championship open while the state minister for youth and sports, Biren Shikdar, is expected to be present.

Participants from Bangladesh, Japan, Afghanistan, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macao, Mongolia, Myanmar, Bahrain, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines and Sri Lanka will feature in the tournament, which is being organised Kyokushinkaikan, the Bangladesh branch of the International Karate Organisation, informed speakers at an official press conference yesterday.
