Is overfishing resulting in loss of biodiversity at Tanguar Haor?

The vast wetland ecosystem of Tanguar Haor in Sunamganj is like no other place in the country. It provides livelihood for many and is home to a great variety of biodiversity. But overfishing in the waters is likely causing a loss of native fish species and as a result also affecting other forms of life which depend on them for food. In order to protect this ecologically critical area, effective measures need to be taken to stop overfishing and also focus on providing suitable alternative employment for fishermen.
