Some peace and quiet for wildlife at Lawachara

Lawachara National Park, abuzz with people all year round, is now a paradise for wild animals. Rare species of wild boar, deer, monkeys, and different species of birds can be seen in this habitat consisting of 169 species of plants and 276 species of animals.

Although forest creation began in 1922, Lawachara was declared a national park in 1997 with 1,250 hectares of land. The landscape inside the jungle began to change on March 19, 2020 after tourists were banned from entering the forest due to the lockdown.

An average of 700 to 800 tourists used to visit the forest daily before the restriction, and now it has come down to zero. As a result, the animals are enjoying their time away from humans.
