Artist Morshed Mishu mugged at knife-point on Kuril flyover

Morshed Mishu, the prodigal artist who made the country proud by being included in the prestigious Forbes Asia 30 under 30 list, was mugged on Kuril flyover today at around 1 am.

“I was on a bike with my friend, when a pickup truck cornered us and forced us to stop,” wrote Mishu in a harrowing description of the incident on Facebook. “Three armed robbers got down the truck, and one of them immediately held a knife to my chest. Another took my cell phone from my pocket, and my new sketchbook and calligraphy papers from the handle of my bike. They even took my gloves” It was clear that the miscreants were taking advantage of the fact that there weren’t other vehicles around.

“I was carrying a shoulder-bag with both our wallets, his phone, and papers of my bike were kept. As one of them reached for it, out of nowhere, a private car came and stopped.” Seeing this as an opportunity for escape, Mishu immediately screamed ‘mugger’ at the top of his lungs. “As they were about to run, I tried to grab one of the robber’s t-shirt, and that is when he hit me bluntly with a knife. Thankfully, I wasn’t hurt.” The victims then immediately called 999, to which the police responded. However, amidst the action, Mishu and his friend had forgotten to pick up the registration number of the perpetrators’ car. “I am confident that the police would have been able to comprehend them immediately if we just remembered to note down that number. However, I am thankful to the Almighty that I am safe and sound. If the private car hadn’t arrived, the situation could have been much worse.”

In the meanwhile, Mishu has filed a GD, and is attempting to track his phone with help from the authorities. The artist has urged everyone to stay safe, and help each other out at the times of such distress.
