After Cardi B caused tremors on social media with her album announcement on Monday night, Billboard reports that another megastar is ready to rock the industry with a project of their own very soon.
On Tuesday night (March 27), The Weeknd posted a screenshot on Instagram of a text conversation. The cryptic message reads, “Should we drop Friday? I'm indifferent to be honest.” The ambiguous post has fans salivating at the sheer possibility that the crooner is ready to drop a new record or album, considering Friday is the day new music is traditionally released.
Sources tell Billboard that The Weeknd is in fact working on new material. “This project is Abel taking it back to his roots,” reveals our source.
In 2011, The Weeknd rose to prominence with his masterful release “House of Balloons”. He quickly gained a legion of fans and devotees because of the mixtape's melancholic lyrics and seamless production.
Next month, The Weeknd will serve as a headliner at Coachella alongside Eminem and Beyoncé.
