Cartoon People launched their online weekly contest titled, Cartoon People Gaan-Toon Caricature Challenge, recently. In the second edition of this series challenge, artists from all over the country were asked pay their tributes to George Lincoln D'Costa, main vocalist and guitarist of the popular band Artcell.
The response was overwhelming as the community received 90 submissions from young cartoonists all over the nation. "This week's response was surprising as we got twice as many submissions as the last time," mentions Syed Rashad Imam Tanmoy, prominent cartoonist and the founder of Cartoon People. "Lincoln was fantastic. He interacted with ease and his words inspired other artists to keep up their good work."
George Lincoln D'Costa added a lot of humour to the session, especially while talking to Rehnuma Proshoon. "All the young cartoonists have drawn my caricatures and I am shocked to see the resemblance of their artworks with my face," he shares. "Doing what you like best is all that matters. I am happy these young artists are pursuing their passion. My message to the artists is never give up, and as a response to discouragements from your surroundings, use satire and wit wisely!"
The winners of this challenge, selected by the musician himself with Syed Rashad Imam Tanmoy and noted poet and journalist Anik Khan, the advisor to Cartoon People, were declared during the Facebook Live on Cartoon People's official Facebook page.
The winners of Cartoon People Gaan-Toon Caricature Challenge 2 are Tahsin Ahmed Aquib (first place), Rehnuma Proshoon (second place), Nafis Kabir (third place) and Adnan Jawad (fourth place). The upcoming segments will feature other renowned musicians, including Raef Al Hasan Rafa, Elita Karim, Fuad Almuqtadir, Topu, Saif Zohan, Xefer Rahman, Armeen Musa and rock band Arbovirus.
