EC asks for withdrawal of KMP boss

With the national election  three weeks away, the Election Commission yesterday asked the home ministry to withdraw Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Humayun Kabir.

Sources at the EC told The Daily Star that the official would be withdrawn in the interest of “election environment”.

They also said the decision was taken as there was a complaint from the Jatiya Oikyafront about Humayun. The commission yesterday sent a letter to the home ministry in this regard.

This newspaper could not collect further details of the EC's move.

Earlier on November 20, opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront wrote to the EC seeking withdrawal of the KMP commissioner and some other police officials.
