41 Covid-19 deaths reported in 24 hours; lowest in 5 weeks

Forty-one people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The number of daily deaths due to Covid-19 is the lowest in five weeks.

The total number of deaths has now reached 11,796 and the death rate stands at 1.53 percent.

At least 1,822 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 7,69,160, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 8.44 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.78 percent.

A total of 21,585 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 3,698 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,02,163 and the recovery rate at 91.29 percent.

Among the 41 deceased, 22 were men and 19 were women. Of them, two was between 41-50 years old; 15 within 51-60; and 24 were above 60 years old, added the release.
