Covid-19: 22 dead in 24 hours, lowest since March 24

261 among 3,758 samples test positive

Twenty-two people have died from Covid-19 during 24 hours (till 8:00am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

This is the lowest number of deaths due to Covid-19 reported in a day since March 24.

The total number of deaths from the virus has now reached 12,124 and the death rate stands at 1.55 percent.

At least 261 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,79,796, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 6.95 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.68 percent.

A total of 3,758 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 964 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,21,435 and the recovery rate at 92.52 percent.        

Among the 22 deceased, 17 were men and five women.

Four were between 41 and 50 years old, six between 51 and 60; and 12 were above 60 years old, added the release.
