2 JMB men held in Thakurgaon

Police claimed to have arrested two operatives of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from the Bharnia DC Government Primary School in Ranishankoil upazila of Thakurgaon early today.

The arrestees are Md Hazrat Ali, 21, son of Jahangir Hossain and Abdul Kafi, 27, son of Abdul Latif, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent quoting a district police press release.

Acting on a tip-off, police came to know that several members of the banned militant outfit were holding a meeting at the school early today, said the press release.

Afterwards, police conducted a drive at the school and nabbed the duo who confessed later that they were the members of military branch of the outfit.

The meeting aimed to recruit new members and collect funds from different sources to strengthen organisational activities as well as making plan to carry attack on government organs, the press release added.  

Police produced the duo before a Thakurgaon court this evening and sought a 10-day remand prayer, it stated.
