Police detained two men over the gang-rape of a sixth-grade madrasa student in Rajapur area of Jhalakathi on Sunday.
Sagor Khan, 18 and Hemayat Khalifa, 40, were picked up by police in connection with the incident on Monday after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint. Another accused, Jalal Hawladar, went into hiding, our local correspondent reports quoting Shakhawat Hossain, assistant superintendent of police in Rajapur Circle.
A relative of the victim lodged a complaint with Rajapur Police Station today and based on the allegation, police is carrying out raids in different places of the area to nab the remaining accused, the police official said.
The process of filing a case and conducting a medical test of the victim is under way, the assistant police superintendent said.
According to the complaint, Jalal Hawladar came to the victim’s house and informed her that she has been asked to meet Hemayat at his house in the same area on Sunday.
As she did not comply with the call, Sagor Khan met the girl and asked her to go to Hemayat’s house, the police official said quoting the complaint.
At one point, the victim went to Hemayat’s house to know the reason but Hemayat, Sagor and Jalal forcibly took her to a room and raped her repeatedly, the complaint said.
