“August Repeated Attempts” portrays grotesque nature of August 21 grenade attack
In memory of the grenade attack on August 21, 2004, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) arranged an installation art exhibition titled "August Repeated Attempts".
The concept was incepted by Liaquat Ali Lucky, the Director General of BSA. The event was supported by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and organised by Shilpakala's Fine Arts department.
The opening ceremony of the programme was attended by BSA secretary Mohammad Asaduzzaman, Fine Arts Department Director Syeda Mahbuba Karim, and the curator of the exhibition, Avijit Chowdhury.
The grotesque attack, that targeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, claimed the lives of many innocents, including Bangladesh Awami League's Women's Affairs Secretary Ivy Rahman. It is said to have changed Bangladeshi politics forever.
