1 crore people to get Covid-19 shots each month: Health Minister
The government is planning to inoculate one crore people with Covid-19 vaccines each month, says Health minister Zahid Maleque.
The minister did not specifically mention any timeline on when the government will start inoculating people with the target of vaccinating one crore each month.
The government currently has a capacity of storing eight crore doses of vaccine, the minister said after his visit to the BSMMU Convention Center which is being turned into a Covid-19 hospital in Dhaka.
The health minister said a meeting was held on vaccine management today at the Directorate General of Health Services and they discussed the sources, number and the countries from which the vaccines will be arriving in Bangladesh in the coming months.
"We have calculated that we will get 21 crore doses and we are planning according to that," he added.
The minister also said the government now has the capacity of storing 30 lakh ultralow temperature sensitive vaccines and few more fridges will arrive which will take the storage capacity to one crore doses.
