"Bangla Nijer Meyekei Chaye" (Bengal wants its own daughter) -- is the new slogan unveiled today by West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress portraying Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as the daughter of Bengal for the upcoming assembly elections due in March-April.
The slogan has added to the raging "insider vs outsider" debate provoked by Trinamool Congress as its Secretary General Partha Chatterjee said, "The people of the state want their own daughter who has been by their side for the last several years as their chief minister. We don't want outsiders to call the shots in Bengal."

The slogan was put up on hoardings across Kolkata as the state's ruling party officially launched it from its headquarters off Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
The Trinamool Congress is engaged in a bitter political fight with the BJP, pitching the opposition party's leaders as "outsiders" who are on "election tourism" to the state.
Meanwhile, at least 12 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) today reached West Bengal, where political violence is frequent in the run up to any election, as the state prepares to go to poll, Election Commission officials said.
