Shopkeeper stabbed by local goons dies at Bogura hospital
A grocery shopkeeper, who sustained injuries in a stab attack by some local goons in Sadar upazila of Bogura last night, died at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital tonight.
Rakib Hasan Hridoy (25), son of Mamunur Rashid of Koipara (Naruli) area in the upazila, succumbed to his injures at the hospital around 8:30pm, said Md Selim Reza, officer-in-charge of Bogura Sadar Police Station.
Rakib's father Mamunur, who was also stabbed during the attack, is undergoing treatment at the same hospital, our Bogura correspondent reports quoting the OC.
Witnesses said Rakib had an altercation with two local youths Ashik (22) and Shadhin (23) when the duo went to light cigarettes in front of the shop but Rakib's father Mamunur Rashid forbade them to light cigarettes in front of him.
Later, the alleged goons left the shop, came back with some cohorts and stabbed the father and son with sharp weapons, leaving them injured.
Locals rescued them and took them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College hospital. Rakib succumbed to his injures at the hospital around 8:30pm today.
OC Md Selim Reza further said they started conducting drives to arrest the criminals.
Process to file a case against those involved in the murder is underway, added the OC.
