Modric to Neymar: We are waiting for you eh

According to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Luka Modric has apparently told Neymar that Real Madrid players are ‘waiting for him’ to move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Neymar scored with a dazzling individual effort upon return to action following a metatarsal injury in Brazil’s victory over Croatia in a warm-up friendly fixture at Anfield yesterday. After the game, the Brazilian met Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric and exchanged shirts with the Madrid maestro.

The Brazil star asked Modric for a Croatia shirt with a few dedications and the midfielder obliged. Neymar returned the favour and wrote something on a Brazil shirt for Modric to keep.

Brazil team’s official twitter account posted a video of the interaction between the two stars and towards the end of the 42-second clip, Modric can be heard telling Neymar: ‘We are waiting for you, eh.’ Neymar replied with a laugh before the video ended.

Neymar, who moved to PSG from Barcelona last summer for a world-record 222 million euro fee is reportedly pushing to join the Los Blancos. Real Madrid president and a number of their players have openly spoken about Neymar being welcome at Madrid. Speculations have only grown ever since PSG were ousted from the last 16 of the Champions League by Modric’s Madrid this season.

When asked after the match about Neymar potentially joining Madrid this summer, Modric said after Brazil’s win over Croatia: ‘Let’s see what happens.’

Madrid fans are already feeling pretty confident that Neymar will definitely be in a white jersey next season.
