Aiman Sadat Sayad Islam is a 16 year old car racer who has won two second position podiums for rounds 1 and 3 of Race 2 at Volkswagen Ameo Cup 2019, conducted by Volkswagen Motorsports, India. He is currently leading the Junior Championship, the final round of which will conclude today.
He views his elder brother, Affan Sadat Safwan Islam as his inspiration. Being a racer himself, Affan is the first Bangladeshi to receive a podium in Canada. He has recently won the third position podium at the Production Racing Car Championship in Race 2. “It was my father’s dream and my brother’s motivation which led me to where I am today,” he shared.
The initial challenge he faced was the absence of racing tracks in Bangladesh. “I had to go to London and India for Go Kart practice and at home, I used a racing simulator for the race track,” he revealed. The whole process of learning racing is very costly, as people have to go abroad for it, he adds. Being in this field requires a lot of courage as well.
Aiman intends to make the country proud as a racer and promote motorsports among the youth. He dreams of competing in the International Formula 1 Race in the future.
